A journal of my life, 1830-1838.

William T. Findley's journal "A journal of my life" was written from September 18, 1830 to November 7, 1838 in Washington County, Ohio. He describes various travels in his life including Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Chillicothe, Ohio, and various other locations in Ohio. During his stay in Pittsburgh, he describes wax figures in the Pittsburgh Museum and seeing paintings in Lambdin's Museum. Many of his entries deal with Christianity and the religious aspects of death. He includes a poem about his birthday and writes two short poems about the deaths of John A. Welch and Mrs. Skinner. Also included are a child's catechism, shorthand, and grammar exercises.

William Thornton Findley, the son of a minister, was born in West Middletown, Washington County, Pennsylvania. He moved with his parents to Ohio in 1824 and graduated from Franklin College, Ohio, in 1839. Later that year he became licensed to preach in the Associate Reformed Church.
